Police make a bold rescue and pull a man out of a burning car

Bergen County police officers saved the man from a burning car, and it was all captured by the camera.

The incident occurred at Ridgefield Park, all shot with a sergeant’s body camera. Nicholas Triano – 18 year police veteran. The driver was trapped in a locked car while it was on fire.

“I told him,” Sir, you have to unlock the car and get out of the car, “Triano says. “Obviously it wasn’t on his card, so we had to go for him.”

The policemen first tried to pry the door open, but the fire was too fierce. Then I used the Harrigan bar to break the window. They first tried to break the window on the driver’s side, but the flames were too close. Then they tried the passenger side and successfully pulled the driver.

The fire department arrived immediately and the fire was extinguished.

The incident took place at a parking lot at the intersection of Route 46 and Laurel Street. They believe that the vehicle’s battery ignited and the locks and windows stopped working.

Police urge all drivers to buy equipment that can break car windows in an emergency.

“If something goes wrong, something that breaks the window and climbs can be a lifesaver,” says Triano.

News 12 I talked to the rescued driver on the phone. He declined his camera interview, saying he wanted to continue to focus on the officer who saved him.

“These experts deserve attention and admiration for what they do best on a daily basis, and I am truly grateful for what they have done for me.” He said.

“At that time, you weren’t thinking about what kind of danger you were in. Your only goal is to get this guy out of the car,” says Triano.

Ridgefield Park officers Delia and Dart also arrived immediately to assist in the rescue. They couldn’t be interviewed.
