Five dead at home in Maryland: Names of two parents and three children who died at Elk Mills released

Elk Mills, Maryland — Two parents and three children were found fatally shot in their Maryland home.

An autopsy confirmed that all five family members died of gunshot wounds, according to a Cecil County Sheriff’s Office news release.

An anonymous man called 911 Friday morning from his home in Elk Mills to report that a woman and three children were shot dead, the sheriff’s office said.

The parents have been identified as Marcus Edward Milligan, 39, and Tara Devina Ricker Milligan, 37.

Their two daughters and son have been identified as 14-year-old Teresa Milligan. Nora Milligan, 11 years old. and Finn Milligan, 8.

Investigators found a handgun near the father’s body, according to the sheriff’s office.

The shooting remained under investigation on Saturday. Lt. Michael Holmes, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department, declined to elaborate on the circumstances of the shooting.

“I can say that there is currently no threat to the public,” Holmes said.

A spokeswoman declined to say whether she believed the deceased father was the same man who called 911 from his home.

The shooting occurred in a residential cul-de-sac in a residential area about 60 miles (97 km) northeast of Baltimore and a few miles west of the Delaware border.

Sheriff Scott Adams said Friday, “It’s a scary day. I know everyone’s prayers are highly appreciated.” .”

The sheriff did not disclose a motive for the shooting. He said his office had no record of the agent who answered the phone at home.
