California: Deaf Dog Rescued After Falling 100 Feet

‘It was a miracle,’ Julia Plant told CNN Affiliate KGTVan eight-year-old Australian Shepherd, after a hobo was rescued.

Plant told KGTV when she was walking a hobo near her home in the Solent Valley when she chased something in a canyon, lost her leg and tumbled into the bush far below.

member of of the San Diego Humane Society Emergency response teams rushed to the scene and realized they would have to rappel down a gorge to reach the dog, according to a Facebook post.

It took five people a total of four hours to rescue the hobo, according to the San Diego Humane Society.

Rescue Lieutenant Clint Ganus told CNN that the rescue was particularly complicated because the hobo landed in “very thick bush” that even humans have difficulty navigating. Hobo also had arthritis and other mobility issues that made it difficult to move.

“When my rescue team arrived on the scene, we went down and built a system for rescuing dogs,” explains Ganus, eventually cutting down trees and branches to get the hobos out of the foliage. Finally, they put him in a safety harness and pulled him up to the top where his family was waiting.

In California, an elderly deaf dog has been rescued after falling into a canyon.

Ganus said the hobo was “going round and round” when it was finally free. “Everyone on my team had a big smile on their face. It reminded me why I came back and do the same thing every day.”

Hobo’s family says they are very grateful. “Thank God for a humane society,” Plant told KGTV, adding that he hopes Hobo will never go near the canyon again. .”
