Chicago drag racing and drifting caught on video near McCormick Place as illegal stunt drivers shut down 25th Street on King Drive

Chicago (WLS) — The Dangerous Driver Reappears Cameras caught him performing an illegal stunt while blocking traffic on the streets of Chicago.the onlooker is on the verge of being run over.

Those who live near the 25th & Martin Luther King Drive said he’s been waking up to the sound of screeching tires in recent weeks.

“When I make a fuss or eat donuts, it’s so loud that I can’t sleep,” said Samson Poon, who lives nearby.

“Absolutely unbelievable,” said neighbor Dennis Alexander. “It’s indescribable. From 300 to him 400 young people just come together in this community and there’s a dead end.”

Overnight video on Friday shows a large crowd clogging the streets as drivers are seen spinning donuts at roundabouts. There were still new tire tracks on the street.

“The speed they’re running around the statues here, and they’re hanging out of the car,” Alexander said. “And it’s not the noise that wakes me up, but the smell of burning rubber .”

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time people have landed on this Near South Side community. A neighbor shared a video last year of people setting up a ring of fire around the same roundabout.

“They must be organizing on social media because they seem to know exactly when and where to come,” Alexander said.

Chicago police arrested two men and seized a vehicle in Friday night’s incident.

18-year-old Jose Castillo was charged with misdemeanor reckless conduct and 18-year-old Juan Venegas was charged with possession of a shotgun, disorderly conduct and multiple traffic violations.

“I just want to sleep in peace, so I hope these hooligans stop causing trouble,” Poon said.

City Council Members Pass Ordinance Last month, the city was able to seize vehicles that “drift” and drag race without the presence of cops. People are hoping this will encourage those wreaking havoc in their neighborhoods to stop.

“I’m very happy to hear that it’s been addressed,” said Alexander.

Neighbors also suggested police add an extra patrol in the area over the weekend.
