Keely Rodni: Body Found in Submerged Car Confirmed as Missing California Teen

Hundreds of Law Enforcement Officers and Volunteers looking for for the 16-year-old girl since she was last seen at the Prosser Family Campground around 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 6, the agency said.

After a search party found a dead body in a submerged car in Prosser Lake, officials said it was “likely” Keely. Statement posted on Facebook From the sheriff’s office.

Nevada County Sheriff Shannan Moon said the vehicle was “in the search zone that we’ve been searching since the beginning of the operation.”

A volunteer diving group, Adventures with Purpose, who often participates in underwater searches, found the vehicle, Moon said. It was found upside down about 14 feet below the surface of the lake, according to Nevada County Sheriff Captain Sam Brown.

Keeley’s family said in a statement Monday that they were “forever grateful” for the support they received during the search.

“We have weathered a storm of immense strength. We are still standing today because of the army of warriors, patriarchs, healers and helpers that sustain us,” the statement read. “We accept this sorrow cast under the shadow of death, but the rising sun sheds light on us, and rather than mourning our loss, we can find the spirit of Keeley and the way we live.” It reminds me to celebrate the gift I received by knowing her, even though I can’t get her back.”

Between 200 and 300 boys attended the campground party where Keely was last seen, officials said.

The site is approximately 17 miles north of Lake Tahoe and 36 miles from Reno, Nevada.
