Charleston, Staten Island (WABC) — Three firefighters were injured and more than a dozen residents were evacuated after a fire that quickly spread to several homes on Staten Island Saturday night.
The fire broke out on the ground floor of a two-story building at 80 Pitney Avenue just before 10 p.m. and quickly spread to neighboring homes, the FDNY said.
It took the crew four minutes to reach the scene and nearly 140 firefighters controlled the fire.
The fire chief said three of the firefighters were injured. Fortunately, they suffered minor injuries.

No residents were injured, but 15 people were evacuated. They are supported by the American Red Cross.
“It could have been worse. The rear building. There are four buildings in the rear with their paneling melted. There is also a building to the left of the original fire building with its paneling melted,” FDNY said. Kevin, the chief of Woods said.
A resident was picking up a pizza from a delivery driver. They were outside when the fire started and stepped in to help.
“I came out on the far right and saw what looked like an out-of-control bonfire,” Mark Keane said.
As the sun rose, loved ones and neighbors of those affected by the fire were in awe of the damage.
“I told them their house was on fire. My sister was devastated and my brother was devastated,” said Aggie Catalino, a relative of one of the homeowners. rice field.
Catalino destroyed his sister’s house. She’s going on vacation this weekend and is trying to clean up what’s left of her house.
“It’s all wet. A lot of things are hanging. It’s being destroyed. A lot of things are being destroyed,” Catalino said.
The fire was put out just before midnight.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
