Trump appeals ruling upholding IRS release of tax returns to House to full DC circuit

In a new filing Thursday, Trump said the DC Circuit panel “made several errors” in ruling in favor of the House.

“The decision here will govern future disputes between Congress and the executive branch, including those of incumbent presidents,” Trump said. “The court should grant the petition.”

On August 9, a three-judge DC Circuit Court of Appeals panel approved the House Ways and Means Committee’s request to obtain Trump’s tax returns from the Internal Revenue Service.

The ruling was not set to take effect immediately, and under DC’s Federal Circuit rules, it took Trump several weeks to appeal. He called for specific steps to be taken to speed up the timeline.
