Shanghai Covid Blockage: Blind Massage Therapist Struggle

In early June, Shanghai was a country that had been thoroughly pursuing the Zero-COVID policy, breaking away from the two-month strict blockade of the entire city.

Authorities claim that life has returned to normal, but residents are trying to eradicate Covid’s case by adapting to the “new normal” of frequent mass testing, contact tracing, and blockade of small communities.

Many companies are struggling and workers are feeling the impact.

The massage industry is an important employment lifeline for the blind and partially blind. However, workers say the effects of the blockade and lack of government support make life particularly difficult.

The BBC told a group about their plight.
