In a year and a half, the favor of first lady Jill Biden is mixed

Her husband, President Joe Biden, has a 36% favor, but his disadvantage is much higher at 54%.

Those who have a positive opinion on Jill Biden are mostly less than partisan. While 67% of Democrats rate her favorably, only 5% have her unfavorable opinion. First ladies were also strong with African Americans (47% favored) and women (39% favored).

Biden’s unfavorable reputation hasn’t changed much since the last CNN poll in January 2021 when he asked about the First Lady at the time. At that time she was 28% disadvantaged.

Traditionally, first ladies are uniformly admired, and Americans tend to have a higher opinion of them than the president. Positions have not been elected and are usually indisputable. But Biden’s numbers show a tendency for the United States to reflect in their views on the president. In a Saturday fundraiser for the Massachusetts Democratic National Committee, the first woman lamented the impeded success of her husband’s administration.

“”[The President] There was a lot of hope and planning for what he wanted to do, but every time you looked back, he had to deal with the problem at that moment, “she said.

Compared to her recent predecessor, past CNN polls show that Biden’s numbers are far less positive. In 2002, at about the same time as her tenure, then first lady Laura Bush saw her positive rating at 67%. And in 2010, Michelle Obama was 62% positive and 25% unfavorable so far in her time as a first lady.

The number of votes cast by Melania Trump fluctuated over the four years at the White House. In June 2018, 51% of Americans had a positive opinion of Trump and 29% were at a disadvantage. Mr. Trump left the White House, the least favored of the First Lady, at the end of his term in the history of polls. In the January 2021 ranking, she was 42% positive and 47% disadvantageous.

At least some of the differences between Jill Biden’s and her predecessor’s views are in the larger share they say they don’t have an opinion about Biden. This isn’t about a major change in Biden’s view, but about the difference between a survey conducted online and a survey conducted over a non-opinion telephone, such as the new CNN poll, which doesn’t provide respondents with an answer. It’s likely. Usually, the response should be done by volunteers.
