Homestead, FLA. (WSVN)-A boy was found dead in Homestead day care.
It happened on Monday at Lincoln-Multiday Care near North Chrome Avenue and Northwest Fifth Street.
According to Miami-Dade police, one of the employees was patrolling in day care, checking the children, and noticed that a baby who wasn’t breathing in the crib was calling 911.
Tayvon Tomlin is only 10 months old and can be seen in a home video smiling at the camera. That’s how his grandfather always remembers him.
“While my boy is preparing for school, I hug my grandson every morning and I’m playing with him because I’m preparing for school,” Sean Tomlin said.
He said it started like any other Monday.
“He was fine and I played with him. I hit him and everything. When I went out and left, he said goodbye to me almost every morning,” Tomlin said. ..
Taybon was dropped off at day care and after 1 pm Tomlin received an unexpected call.
“I left home and went to the hospital, and then my son called me and said he was dead,” Tomlin said. Information about the situation was probably around 2 o’clock. “
Tabion was airlifted to a local hospital by the crew, where the detective said he had been sentenced to death.
The Taybon family sat outside the nursery for hours and wondered if the boy who said they were very healthy has now died.
Lincoln Marti later issued a statement about the tragic death. “As a result of a medical emergency, the child was taken from the Lincoln-Marti Nursery School in Homestead by the Miami-Dade Fire Department this afternoon. Later, it was discovered that the child had died.”
When the woman closed the door to day care on Monday night, 7News asked what had happened and said in Spanish she couldn’t comment because everything was under investigation.
Lincoln Marti said he worked with authorities to identify the cause of the situation and expressed his heartfelt condolences to his family.
Investigators told the family that the camera in the baby room wasn’t working at the time, Taybon’s step-grandmother told 7 News on the phone.
“I’m still waiting for an answer,” Tomlin said.
Police are continuing the investigation.
