An older Florida woman falls into a pond and dies after being “grabbed” by two crocodiles, officials say.

According to a statement from the Sarasota County Security Officer’s Office, the woman fell into a pond along the golf course at around 8:15 pm at the Boca Royale Golf and Country Club in Inglewood, Florida. She “difficult to float” and the two crocodiles “finally grabbed her while in her water,” her statement said.

The woman was declared dead on the scene. According to the statement, the sheriff’s office and the state’s Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are currently investigating, and the cause of death for the woman has not yet been identified.

The commission told CNN in a statement that a contracted crocodile catcher was dispatched to the scene and removed two crocodiles from the area. One of the crocodiles was 8 feet 10 inches long and the other was 7 feet 7 inches long. However, according to the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, “at this time it is unknown whether the crocodile was involved in the incident.”
