Philadelphia (CBS) — Police brutally beat a 73-year-old man with cones and other objects in North Philadelphia last month, hitting the man on the ground and injuring his head among seven teenage suspects. I’m searching for a group.
Police identified the victim as James Lambert on Friday. James Lambert died of injury the next day.
The incident occurred at 2100 blocks on Cecil B. Moore Avenue around 2:45 am on June 24th.
Lambert was surrounded by seven teenagers and was only a few blocks away from home when attacked from behind. Police say they believe the man did nothing to trigger the assault.
“It’s horrible, it’s a horrifying event,” said Captain Jason Smith of the Philadelphia Police Department.
Lambert was taken to Temple University Hospital after the attack and died the next day.
Police say they are looking for a group of seven boys between the ages of 13 and 17. The suspect consists of four boys and three girls. The suspect is unknown to the investigator.
Police released a surveillance video of the incident on Friday.

The surveillance video shows a teenager following Lambert when one of the boys picked up a traffic cone and threw it at him. Lambert falls to the ground and tries to escape before being attacked by a young girl again.
Police say two of the teens attacked Lambert, as others have seen.
“Mr. Lambert is getting up and he’s about to leave the group again, when you can see a woman attacking behind Mr. Lambert with a construction cone,” Smith said.
After the attack, you can see a boy jumping on a scooter. Another boy has a unique patch of blonde hair that the police want you to be able to recognize.

“I think the curfew could have completely prevented this from happening, but again, it requires parental involvement.”
According to Smith, the final decision on the charges will be left to the district attorney’s office.
According to investigators, surveillance videos show that one of the teenage suspects had a cell phone during the assault but had never seen a video posted on social media.
Police say the teenage suspect is investigating possible associations with other assaults in the neighborhood.
“We are investigating whether those teens are involved in other assaults in the area,” Smith said. “We can’t be more specific. We have no suspects at this time, so we are seeking the help of citizens to identify the seven boys who were present at the time of the incident.”
Lambert’s niece, Tania Stevens, is still unable to survive the attack.

“I don’t understand what’s happening in our city,” Stevens said. “Where were your parents? I don’t know if children of that age seemed unable to be over 14 years old. How about committing a crime at 2am? I Is a senior and does not go out that time. Parents, they need to turn back their children. Children need help. They need help. “
Investigators are calling on teenage parents to hand over their children.
Police are offering a $ 20,000 bounty for information that could lead to arrests and convictions.
