Calhoun County authorities have closed the business. Club Rolex called it “dangerous.”Owner disagrees | Local

Calhoun County officials have closed a business that claims to be the scene of a recent shooting.

The owner claims that he is working to improve the security of the business, according to reports from WACH.com..

Last week, the Calhoun County Council unanimously passed an emergency ordinance that identified Club Rolex as “pollution” and empowered the sheriff’s office to close it. Club Rolex is located on Sleeve Ridges Road outside Lone Star.

“It’s dangerous and too annoying. It was a threat to society,” said Sheriff Thomas Summers of Calhorn County.

“Club Rolex is the source of the problems we are experiencing in the lower part of the county, and today we have taken the first step to fix the problem,” Summers said.

Summers claims that Club Rolex does not have a license to operate.

About four people were recently shot dead at or near the business, according to Summers. He says there may be others who have not been reported.

“Fortunately, no one has been killed yet,” Summers said.

The Emergency Regulations are specifically targeted at Club Rolex, but the county plans to permanently revise the regulations to address similar situations in the future.

The nuisance ordinance allows law enforcement agencies to close businesses that are “publicly, repeatedly, permanently, and intentionally violated.” Calhoun County Chief Deputy Matt Trentham said on June 13.

On Friday, Judge Jeffrey Bloom of Calhoun County upheld the sheriff’s office’s decision to close Club Rolex.

According to online information, Club Rolex operates on Friday nights and Saturdays.

Attempts to contact the owner have failed.

However WACH.com I talked to George Gates, who has been identified as the owner of the business.

“They seem to have cheated. Someone did these things in an attempt to close the place,” he told the television station.

Gates told WACH that Club Rolex is a private party, not a club.

He also said he spent money on enhancing security, such as checking vehicles and making sure visitors were at least 21 years old.
