Jonesboro Teen Creates Seed Library to Promote Gardening

Jonesboro, KAIT-Growing the community with one seed at a time Jonesboro teenagers have built a community seed library where they can get seeds and leave some.

Senior Girl Scout Gwendolyn Hatton loves gardening and is also a member of the Master Gardens in Craighead County.

She realized that many children didn’t participate in gardening or didn’t know about gardening, so she said she wanted to do something about it.

The Seed Library is located at the Jonesboro Public Library in Craighead County, and you can choose from a variety of seeds.

It will always stock seeds. There are herbs, fruits, vegetables and flowers, and you can get seeds. You can also bring your own packaged seeds, as long as they aren’t labeled and in huge bags, “Hutton said.

The seed library is free for everyone and you can share it with your seeds.

Creating a seed library is a community service project that continues even after the project is over, but gardening is something she can feel differently, says Hatton.

If I’m planting something, I’m “Oh, yes! I’m very excited to see this grow.” When I was weeding the gardener, “Don’t wake up again, cry.” It’s like “Masu”. Gardening really makes me happy, “she said.

Hatton enjoys implementing the project and winning badges and looks forward to winning the Gold Take Action Award at the Seed Library.
