New York -Searching for a man who was assaulted and stabbed when a 19-year-old woman stepped into a subway station. Lower East Side On Friday.
She talked exclusively to CBS2’s Ali Baumann about the random attack.
The 19-year-old victim was heading to the subway with his girlfriend and noticed a man chasing them. He went away, and she thought they were safe until the man grabbed her from behind her.
“I was really stuck. I really didn’t have a place to move,” she said.
She has a wound on her neck and a puncture wound on her back. She didn’t want to be identified because the attacker wasn’t caught.
It happened early Friday morning at the Delancey Street subway station.
“I’m down the stairs. My friend was a little in front of me and he immediately strangled me like from behind. I didn’t know what was going on. Was mischievous with me, so I said, “Who is this? Who is hugging me?” And he wasn’t loosening his grip. “
She says the man pulled out a small knife and dug it into her throat.
“My friend turns around and realizes that I’m not with her, turns around and shouts,” Oh, that’s what. “
She called 911 and said it took about 40 minutes for police to arrive. She is afraid because he ran away, he was able to attack again.
“He went for me, and I was afraid of those who were alone because I was with someone,” the victim said.
The latest NYPD data show that crime in transit has increased by 53.6% so far this year compared to last year.

Just hours after this attack, police say A 62-year-old man was stabbed and stabbed in the Queen’s Boro Plaza subway station.. Police are also looking for a man they say beat a 27-year-old man on a Brooklyn MTA bus last weekend.
“Police need to focus on the imminent threat of violence,” said Danny Pearlstein of the Riders Alliance.
He says transportation system police can help, but that’s not the only solution to a safer commute.
“The subway doesn’t run often enough. People have been waiting for a long time on the platform. The governor needs to run more trains,” he said.
The victim told CBS2 that he was unaware of the suspect’s motives and did not try to steal anything from the suspect.
Authorities require police to call anyone who has information about any of these cases.
