When I return to Iran, my husband kills me

Parisa fled from Iran to Turkey to escape her abusive husband. He threatened to kill her because she left. Now she is at risk of being deported to Iran, where he was able to find her.

Human rights activists say the number of so-called honor killings reported in Iran is increasing.

“Honor killings” are just murders, most often women’s murders by a male family. Victims are killed by their families or partners because they have been accused of causing “shame” to their families in their actions. This term is very controversial as it brings the concept of “honor” to brutal crime.
