A former Wisconsin judge who was killed in a “targeted threat” sentenced the suspect to imprisonment more than 15 years ago, court documents say.

Romer, 68, was killed Friday at the State Justice Department, home of New Lisbon, Wisconsin. Said in a statement.. According to the Justice Ministry, 56-year-old Uhde was identified as a suspect and was found in the basement of his house with a “clear self-harm gunshot wound.”

According to CNN’s online review of the Wisconsin Circuit Court records, Uhde has a criminal record in the state dating back to at least 2002, when he was convicted of armed robbery and firearms charges. The incident seems to have lasted for several years, at some point in 2005 before Romer.

Online records show that Uhde was convicted in 2006 and 2007 on charges of escape from police and misdemeanors that interfered with police officers. According to online court records, he also filed civil suits in federal court against several law enforcement defendants for alleging that the 2001 arrest investigation was illegal. CNN was unable to determine the outcome of the proceedings.
