Burlington (CBS) — Police are investigating an attempted kidnapping in Burlington on Sunday night. Around 8:20 pm on Sunday, a person who reported seeing what looked like a woman dragged by a man at a middle sex turnpike near Great Meadow Road called 911.
On Monday, police released 911 Call Audio. The caller can be heard asking if the victim knows the suspect, and the victim says “no”.
Police said the suspect ran away after being surprised by the 911 caller who pulled the car.
WBZ-TV talked to the good Samaritan who wanted to be anonymous.

“I got off her, let go of her, just screaming and screaming. And as soon as I got out of the car, she ran towards my car. I got off, he yes It’s gone, “said the Good Samaritan.
At around 10:15 pm, the agency tweeted a photo of the suspect escaping from the scene. Police say he jumped over the fence and entered the Burlington Public Works Department parking lot.
Surveillance video from the business at the intersection of Middle Sex Turn Pike and Great Meadow Road showed the victim when she was tracked by a suspect. The video then showed her suspect grabbing her and dragging her over her turnpike to Great Meadow Road.
Police responded after 8:30 pm. There was a lively scene of Burlington police, Essex County Sheriff K-9, and Bedford police searching the area.

The suspect was portrayed as a white man in his teens or early twenties. He wore a black hat, a black hooded sweatshirt, khaki / brown trousers, and black and white sneakers.
“This area is popular and right across from Third Avenue with its many restaurants. It usually travels pretty well at 8pm and certainly on Sundays, so there are certainly a lot of people around. I was there, “said police chief Thomas Browne. “No one has been arrested. That’s an immediate concern. This is a call for the awakening of all of us. The public needs to be vigilant.”
