Prerequisites and eligibility for PMP certification

The PMP certification requires you to have at least a specific real-world experience in the field.  To enroll in the course, you must pass at least one set of the following eligibility criteria. 

Set 1 

  • Have a four-year degree or global equivalent
  • 36 months of experience leading projects in the past eight years
  • 35 hours of training in project management or the CAPM certification

Set 2

  • High school diploma or Associates degree
  • 60 months of experience leading projects in the past eight years
  • 35 hours of training in project management or the CAPM certification

PMP certification cost

The exam fee for the PMP certification varies for members and non-members. For members, it is Rs. 21,933, and for non-members, it is Rs. 30,042. The PMI membership costs Rs. 7,646 a year, with a one-time application fee of Rs. 772. 

Application process

Here are the steps you can follow for the PMP exam application process. Remember, the fee is non-refundable, and you cannot cancel the application. 

Apply for the course

To apply for the certification, you have to first register for PMI membership. If you don’t want to register for the membership, you can sign-up for free. 

Take the PMP certification training course

You have to complete 35 hours of training in project management. Through the course, you can learn directly from the experts. 

Submit the application

If you check the eligibility criteria and complete all the requirements, you are ready to submit your application. Document all your experiences, complete the application and submit it. Once your application is accepted, you have to pay the fee. 

Clear the exam

Schedule your exam. You can either take it online or at a Pearson Vue Testing Center. Your exam fee is valid for a year. You can give the exam three times a year in case you don’t pass. 

PMI audit

PMI also conducts audits at random. In case you are selected for an audit, you have to submit a copy of your degree, verification of experience signed by the supervisor, and proof of 35 hours of project management training.
