Houston, TX (KTRK) — On Monday morning, a massive water main break in west Houston sent water nearly 20 feet into the air.

A viewer notified ABC13 of a “geyser” occurring on Richmond Avenue and Gessner Road.

We could see the roads fill with water and splash on passing cars.

Houston city officials said they should shut off the water to that line and wait for the pressure to subside before assessing the damage.

A neighbor told ABC13 that water had been gushing since 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

As of 1:30 p.m., city officials are still working to fix the malfunction, but it’s unclear how long it will take.
