“Why I Made a Film About My Addiction”

A recovering alcoholic who nearly took his life from drinking has made a film about his struggles.

Jit Chauhan, 48, of Oadby, Leicestershire, said he was drinking a liter of whiskey a day at the height of his addiction.

Jit, who is of Gujarat heritage, said he found it difficult to get help.

He is currently making films that attempt to break down the stigma around addiction in South Asian communities.

The film was shown around Leicester, including the Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara.
