When they worked together at the beloved family’s sitcom “Full House” from 1987 to 1995, they worked differently-a disparity that could sometimes cause tension. According to Stamos, Saget can be “nuisance” and “stupid.”
“The truth-and, as you know, it must be said that it’s so funny-we weren’t best friends at the show (when we were),” Stamos told CNN. “I wanted to structurally approach Sitcom, but Bob and Dave (Coulier) always wanted to make everyone laugh.”
“No one would have expected us two to be best friends in the end,” he says.
In fact, Stamos was so close that he acted as a casket attendant at Saget’s funeral-one day he confessed on Twitter that it was “the most difficult day of my life.”
At the funeral, Saget’s first wife, Sherri Kramer, gave Stamos exactly what he needed to hear. When Stamos remembers her words, it’s a tribute to their unique friendship that makes Stamos laugh. Stamos said, “But he also hated you for a long time.”
Best friend and brother
After the show, Saget and Stamos united in an attempt to rock their healthy “Full House” characters, Danny Tanner and Jesse Katsopolis, respectively.
“We both knew his true’dirty daddy’self,” Stamos, as was everyone around when the camera stopped spinning and the joke began. Says.
The more they spend time together (eventually including a reboot called the “Fuller House”), the more they love each other. Stamos says the two have begun to meet the same therapist.
“He started jumping into my life when I needed him most, and when I needed someone, and vice versa,” says Stamos. “And we’re getting closer and closer and we’re there for each other in the happiest and saddest moments of our lives.”
He shares this while playing a Netflix special snippet and gets emotional when he sees his best friend crying and laughing on the screen.
He says he is still very sad.
He plays a clip of comedians Jeff Ross, Jim Carrey, Chris Rock, John Mayer and himself riffing on stage about each other’s companions. The stage is dotted with luxurious chairs and is sponsored by Ross. Ross jokes. “John Mayer is here. John hired a very very generous private jet to fly Bob’s body. “It was a light roast that Bob would have loved,” Stamos laughed.

Stamos was driving a car with his four-year-old son, Billy, trying to get him to take a nap just before he heard the news. He was in a parking lot not far from his home when his spokeswoman called.
“He asked if I was still talking to Bob that day … people say he was dead,” he recalls. “I’m going,’What? He’s in Florida to do a show.'”
He hung up, called Saget many times, sent a text message, and then started calling Saget’s wife, Kelly Rizzo. When he reached her; she was screaming and crying. The news was true.
“I hit the ground in the parking lot, and it was downhill from there,” he says. “It was just’I’m sorry’.” It was such a guts punch. “
He went home with Billy still asleep and went out to the balcony of his house. There he saw a hummingbird hovering nearby. In the tradition of the Stamos family, this means that the deceased are visiting.
“I don’t know why I did that, but I recorded it on video,” says Stamos. “And I got a video of a little hummingbird that I think is Bob.”
Rock and roll shiva
In Jewish tradition, the funeral should take place within 24 hours of death, so Stamos said he and his friend “foamed the funeral together” and took Saget’s body home, a week after his death. The ceremony was held before I knew it.
Stamos was alongside “Full House” co-stars Dave Coulier, Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Lori Loughlin, Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen.
Then on January 30th, friends and family threw a moving and sad “improvised rock’n’roll shiva” for Saget in a small room above a Hollywood comedy store that started his career as a stand-up comedy.
Stamos plays his footage of making an emotional speech about Saget. There, he tells the audience “the honor of being his best friend for 35 years … one of his best friends.” The audience was full of friends, family and fans. Stamos played them a tribute video he made with Saget, but it was difficult to revisit it.
“This is hard to see,” he said in tears.
Producer Mike Binder, a friend of Saget and Coulier, came up with the idea of a tribute hosted by Ross and Stamos. They weren’t very prepared, but Stamos and Mayer were able to put the band together. Stamos recalled that Binder installed the camera “just in case” and the famous face began to move.
“You can hear these two very familiar voices by the door.’It sounds like Chris Rock. It sounds like Jim Carrey.’ Don’t expect them to be there. I did, “he says. “And everyone just walked on the stage and took off from there.”
The result is raw and intimate, and Stamos does not have the celebration of Saget’s life presented otherwise.
He wants everyone to understand how much his friends are loved and loved.
“He always told me how much I loved you and why I loved you. He never got off the phone,” says Stamos. “I was able to show you. It’s’I love you. I love you.’ Fifty, one million times.”
He says he was keenly aware of conveying his message of love as Saget suffered so many losses in his life.

Stamos remembers the last time he met his friend in person, picking up and stroking Saget’s guitar.
On a double date at Nobu in Malibu, we set out with their friendship in mind.
“That night, Bob was all I wanted to be,” he says. “The best part of all of him was that supper … I swear to God, he was just as if he was somehow peaceful.”
He listened and was keenly interested in what was happening in the lives of others, says Stamos.
“As you know, sometimes you can say,’He was supposed to do that because our reduction told him, so he’s just asking a question,'” he said. Laughs.
He says his favorite line from the special comes from Jim Carrey.
At the moment he is playing at Zoom, Carrie speaks to the crowd while the blues song is playing in the background.
“Bob wasn’t the one who was taken away from us. He was given to us,” Carrie says. “And one day, when the amount of laughter reached a certain amount, he just unzipped his human suit and went to the vehicle.”
At this moment, Carrie added, perhaps “floating above us,” and “surrounded by angels.”
